This Privacy Policy explains what information Mary Karen “Wren” Lichlyter-Klein (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit wrenlklein.com (the “Site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.
We keep data collection to a minimum. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Information We Collect
Information you give us
Contact form. If you send a message through the Site, we collect your name, email address, and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use this only to respond to you and to keep a record of the correspondence.
Email list. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and any other information the signup form requests. We publish on Substack, and subscribers are also added to our email platform, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which is what we use to send our newsletter. Both platforms store your information under their own privacy policies, which you can read at https://substack.com/privacy and https://kit.com/privacy. We can see subscriber email addresses and engagement information such as opens and clicks through these platforms.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, and you don’t need to give a reason. Unsubscribing stops all newsletter email from us.
We don’t sell subscriber information or share it for advertising.
Please do not send sensitive personal or health information through this Site. Messages sent through the contact form or by email are not confidential, are not protected by any professional privilege, and do not create a client or therapeutic relationship. If you are seeking care, please contact a licensed provider directly.

When you click a link and leave this Site, you are on someone else’s property. Their privacy practices govern, not ours. We do not control what those platforms collect, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Substack. Our writing is published on Substack. If you subscribe, comment, or create an account there, Substack collects and processes that information under its own privacy policy at https://substack.com/privacy. We have access only to the subscriber and engagement information Substack makes available to publication owners.
Your Choices
Email. Every newsletter from Substack or Kit includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at hello@wrenlklein.com to be removed.
Cookies and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Google offers an opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Access and deletion. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@wrenlklein.com and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to
- Request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email address, IP address), internet activity information (browsing and interaction with the Site), and geolocation data at a general level.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. No advertising or retargeting tags run on the Site.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@wrenlklein.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity before responding, usually by confirming information already associated with your request. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.
Other State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain other states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, and Oregon, have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Data Retention
We keep contact form submissions and email correspondence for as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable business record, then delete them. Substack and newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the analytics tool in use 14 months in GA4.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we hold, including SSL/TLS encryption, access controls, and reputable hosting. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@wrenlklein.com and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted more prominently. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
